Do This, Not That!
Special needs families have one thing in common – they endure tremendous amounts of stress for extended periods of time. They never feel like they have enough time or money or resources or knowledge or support. So when they are seeking a new practitioner or treatment, they are taking all aspects into account and often make decisions from an EMOTIONAL basis, not a LOGICAL/COGNITIVE basis.
As such, the way a family FEELS in your office or the way they feel they are being WELCOMED or ACCEPTED by your staff will play a heavy role in their decision to become a practice member or stay a practice member.
Here are some practical Do’s and Don’ts for establishing relationships with these families!
Hey,
I’m Dr. Amy Spoelstra!
I teach Chiropractors how to lead with the brain to make the case for Chiropractic!
I have extensive experience over the past (nearly) 20 years helping families struggling with behavioral, learning, socialization, and developmental challenges.
In addition to the FOCUS Academy, I’m also the founder of the Brain Blossom program which is an online, at home, brain and body exercise and educational program.
What people are saying...
“One of the biggest things I learned is that everything we do is a window into our brains.
This alone is going to make me look at not only what our patients may do that could be clues to something going on but it’s going to help me understand what could be going on with my kiddos as well.”
“I learned knowledge and understanding to see people in a new light.
Not There YET is a huge shift from can’t or won’t or unable to.
Not only are we holding space for these families we are restoring hope that there are better days to come.”
“This weekend helped me put so many pieces together from things I have learned in the past by giving the way I look at cases a solid structure based on the way in which the brain develops!
Thank you so much!”
“I have been to a lot of seminars and focus academy really helped me take all the things I have learned and pull it together in an organized way with the nervous system and brain as the foundation.”
“Being able to have 'windows' into the brain is huge.
I love having data to compare before and after and this was huge for that.”
“This is for everyone, not just children.”
